The Symposium and Instructional Course are organised by the Scottish Orthopaedic Research Trust into Trauma, which was established in 1993 to promote research into orthopaedic trauma. The Symposium is a well established annual meeting that updates senior orthopaedic surgeons in new trauma philosophies and techniques. This years topics include damage control surgery, open fractures, distal tibial and foot fractures, and distal radius and carpal fractures. This meeting will be particularly useful for consultants approaching revalidation in orthopaedic trauma. The Instructional Trauma Course provides education for surgeons in training, senior orthopaedic nurses and senior physiotherapists. It is also useful for experienced orthopaedic surgeons who wish to update their knowledge of orthopaedic trauma and for surgeons preparing for their fellowship exams.
